Did you know that millions of people in the UK are due an average of more than £1,000 each in tax rebates. Many of these are students who have been placed on emergency tax codes, left the country part way through the tax year or simply were the victim of human (or computer) error.
Either way, the result is the same. You have paid too much tax,
you're out of pocket and something needs to be done. The worst course
of action you can take is to put things off for another day - the
longer you delay the harder it can become to reclaim what is
rightfully yours. A claim for a tax rebate can usually be made no
later than the 31st January
5 years after the end of the tax year
(5th April) which the other payment was made. Even worse,
if you leave it too long, you cannot claim your money back at all.
